What college/s did you attend while preparing for your assignment at LASD?
-Michigan State University BA Major: History, Minor: French
-Eastern Michigan University MA in Educational Leadership: K12 Administration
What do you like best about teaching?
Education is a very relational profession. I love building strong relationships with all of our educational partners to best serve students' needs. I believe strongly in the saying "Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care."
Share your favorite childhood school memory.
In eighth grade I was nominated as captain of the Safety Patrol. This meant I had to walk around the building every morning and afternoon to check in with all the student crossing guards who were helping the elementary kids safely cross the street to get to school. It taught me the value of serving others and that being a leader was hard work, but very rewarding.
What are you most looking forward to working at LASD?
I am looking forward to working with the amazing staff and community we have in Ludington to continue providing our LHS students with the best possible educational experiences.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My wife and I love to hike, backpack and camp. We also canoe a lot in the summers. I'm a big outdoors enthusiast, so I try to get outside and do something active whenever I can. Traveling and seeing new places is another passion of mine. I have been fortunate enough to spend time in Colorado, Montana, Quebec, France, Italy and Sweden among other places.
