Yes, if you apply during the state-approved school of window which is set by the Michigan Department of Education, normally through the summer until the end of the first week of school, but sometimes extending through the Fall Pupil Count Day. For more complete information, or to apply to a school of choice at Ludington, contact the Superintendent's office.

Enrolling Your Student

If enrolling an elementary student during the school year, take your child and the immunization record and birth certificate for that child to the elementary building nearest your home.  The office staff at the building will direct you from there.  If enrolling an elementary student during the summer, enrollment takes place at the Central Business Office at 809 East Tinkham Avenue.

If enrolling a secondary level student (grades 7-12), take your child, immunization record and birth certificate to O. J. DeJonge Junior High or Ludington High School and the office staff will be able to help you.  If enrolling a secondary level student during the summer, go to the high school.  To get directions or more information, contact the district at 231-845-7303.

Choosing Your School

Yes, if there is room for your child at the building you select. Ludington Area School District has a "building of choice" process that takes place in February and March.  Once all of those students are assigned, new students can be placed according to their request if there is room at the building they are selecting.  This process is "first come, first served." If space in not available, students are assigned by the principals.

For more information about Ludington Area Schools, please contact the Central Busi6ness Office at 231-845-7303 and you will be directed to someone who can help you.
