Ludington Highlights

Clean Diesel Grant Award

We are pleased to share that the District has been awarded a grant in the amount of $135,000 to replace older buses in our current fleet. Eight districts in the state were selected to receive this grant through the Michigan Dept. of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (formerly known as the Dept. of Environmental Quality), in order to reduce diesel emissions from older buses that can negatively impact air quality and be harmful to the environment.

iPad Sale Information

All Ludington Area School students will be issued new iPads when they return to school in the fall of 2019. Which means that we will be selling the current Apple 16g (wifi only) iPad Air 2 models to families if they choose to purchase them. The cost of the iPads are $130 each. Once we are done selling iPads to the families that want them, members of the community will be able to purchase them. Parents have until June 7th to decide whether to purchase their student’s iPad.

Thank You

The District is extremely humbled by the support of the voters in our school community. While still unofficial, the outcome from last night is a victory for the children of Ludington Area School District. The District has worked hard to develop a plan to create safer and modern schools, while also ensuring that classroom spaces and learning environments are age-appropriate, and integrated with technology,  flexible furniture, and space design to support our educators and the inspiration of 21st-century learning skills and competencies in our students. We are appreciative of the community’s support.

The District is excited to begin the process of designing the concepts in our proposal, with the input of multiple school and community stakeholders. We are excited to be able to continue to expand our focus on 21st-century learning skills to ensure that graduates of Ludington Area Schools are empowered to adapt and succeed in their future and in a global community, as outlined in the District’s mission statement.

Please know that regardless of how one voted for the proposal, we value your thoughts and feedback. The District is committed to its vision of graduating students from a top-performing district, confident in the skills required for their success in the global community. We will continue to work with all stakeholders to collaboratively design this project and are excited for kids, our staff, and the community. Thank you for all of your support.
