Ludington Elementary Curriculum

The State of Michigan has adopted the Common Core State Standards.  This is a state-led effort designed to improve educational outcomes for students by developing a set of consistent, clear K-12 academic standards in English language arts and mathematics. Our teaching staff has converted the skills and concepts to reflect learning goals that describe the intended learning of each curriculum objective.  Research indicates that when students are given learning goals, they perform significantly better than when the focus is on task completion.  The learning goals are listed by the trimester. Concepts are taught in conjunction with one another so that the student can recognize the relationships among the various subjects.  Many skills are practiced and improved upon in more than one trimester and grade level.
