Interim Superintendent's Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Ludington Area School District. We are proud of our staff,  students, parents, supportive community, and Board of Education Ludington Area Schools’ vision is that students will graduate from a top-performing district, confident and prepared with the knowledge and skills required for their success in the global community. Dr Mathis PhotoWe offer a top-notch quality education with a small town feel. Our community-supported technology bond allows LASD to put a device in every student’s hands, allowing for a 21st-century education in connection with the global community. Our partnerships with the community allow us to provide innovative opportunities beyond the traditional Michigan Merit Curriculum--expansive AP offerings, dual enrollment courses with West Shore Community College, Career/Technology Education (CTE), as well as renowned fine and performing arts. In addition to our strong academic program, Ludington Area Schools offers athletics for students in grades 7-12, including 24 varsity sports, as well as an array of co-curricular groups such as Business Professionals of America, Community Service Club, Drama Club, Show Choir, We the People Civic Group and others in middle and high school.

Ludington serves 2,200 students across five buildings--Ludington High School (9-12), O. J. DeJonge Middle School (6-8), Foster Elementary (3-5), Franklin Elementary (K-2) and Lakeview Elementary (K-2). The Pere Marquette Early Childhood Center is also part of LASD, and offers several pre-school options for young children.

The Ludington community is second to none, and I am proud to work with an outstanding faculty and staff who make great things happen. It is my pleasure to serve the Ludington Area School District, and I welcome your comments and suggestions. Feel free to call my office at 231-845-7303, or email me at pmathis@lasd.net.
