Strategic Plan

Ludington Area School District in collaboration with our community engaged in a strategic planning process during the 2014-2015 school year to develop a three to five year plan.  The purpose of this initiative was to help us develop new goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for our students while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient way.

We began this process back on August 27, 2014, when we invited Dr. Olga Holden to our all staff meeting to outline the steps we would take to develop the strategic plan for the district. An electronic survey was made available and open to all from August 27 through October 27, 2014 to the staff, parents, community members, board members and students to share their input.  The survey consisted of three key questions:

What are the strengths of Ludington Area Schools?

What are the opportunities for the district?

What is your vision for Ludington Area Schools?

We also held three community forums on October 21, 2014 to collect input.  All of this community feedback in addition to demographic, achievement and process data  was compiled and put into a report.   From there we held a Strategic Planning Retreat which included a representation of teachers, students, parents, community members and board members.  The purpose of the retreat was to review the district data that had been collected in order to identify key focus areas for the district and set goals and measurable objectives.  A group was also identified to review the input that was collected through the process and establish the vision and mission for the district.  A draft of the Strategic Plan for Ludington Area Schools was presented to the Board of Education in December and adopted in January.

From there the District Improvement Team will created an action plan to achieve the goals and objectives established.  This will serve as our road map for the next 12-18 months.  We will monitor our progress as we put the plan into action.  We would like to thank everyone for providing the necessary feedback to help us make Ludington Area Schools the best place for learning and preparing our students for success in the global community.  We look forward to continuing the tradition of working together to make a difference for our students and their families.
